Iranian Truck Drivers Threaten to Block Road Near Vorotan
Truck drivers of Iranian freight vehicles stranded on the Kapan–Goris road are threatening to block the road, as they are being asked for money to pass through the Azerbaijani checkpoint.
One of the drivers, identified as Amir, told Sputnik Armenia that they have been stuck near Vorotan for three days and cannot pass because they do not have the money to pay the Azerbaijani authorities. Amir, who has already paid at the Armenian customs checkpoint in Meghri, is puzzled as to why he needs to pay again.
To allow the fuel truck to pass, the Azerbaijanis are demanding $350. The drivers threaten to block the road if the issue is not resolved within 1-2 hours. Currently, around 50 Iranian trucks have piled up in the area. They are requesting that this information be conveyed to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
