Who is the new governor of Ararat region?
The government adopted a decision appointing Karen Sargsyan as the governor of Gegharkunik region. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan congratulated Sargsyan and wished him success in his endeavors.
Before this appointment, Karen Sargsyan held the position of Chairman of the Water Committee.
Biography of Karen Sargsyan
Karen Vahani Sargsyan was born on October 27, 1984, in the village of Tsovinar, Gegharkunik region, Armenia. He graduated from Tsovinar village’s Stepan Shahumyan Secondary School in 2001.
From 2002 to 2008, he studied and graduated from the Department of Sports Journalism at the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture. From 2002 to 2004, he served in the Armed Forces of Armenia.
Between 2009 and 2015, he moved to Moscow, Russia, where he engaged in entrepreneurship. In 2016, he entered and studied at the Institute of Management of Regional Law and Administration in Moscow.
In 2018, he was nominated as a candidate for the National Assembly from the 'My Step' alliance. From April 1, 2019, to May 4, 2019, he served as Deputy Director of the 'Gegharkunik' Water Company. From May 4, 2019, to November 15, 2019, he was the Director of the same company. Since November 20, 2019, he has been the Acting General Director of 'Melioracia' LLC.
He is a member of the 'Civil Contract' party. He is married and has one daughter. Since 2020, he has held the position of Chairman of the Water Committee.
