Turkey Seeks Financial Compensation from the US
Turkish journalist Mustafa Kartoglu has presented the situation Turkey finds itself in regarding American F-35 jets. This is reported by Ermenihaber.am.
Turkey and the US had signed an agreement for the supply of these fighter jets; however, the Russian-Turkish deal concerning the Russian S-400 air defense systems created problems in Turkish-American relations, resulting in Turkey being excluded from the fighter jet production program.
Incidentally, Turkey, as a member of that program, still manufactures certain spare parts for the American next-generation fighter jets.
According to the journalist, Turkey has so far paid for six units of the jets, but even those have not been delivered to Turkey. Now, Turkey is trying to recover the funds spent.
The manufacturer of the F-35s, Lockheed Martin, continues to purchase some spare parts from Turkey for the F-35s. However, it is planned to cease the procurement of spare parts from Turkey in 2022.
