Video: Permanent Snow-Covered Areas of Mount Ararat Start to Melt
In recent days, the ice and snow on Mount Ararat have been melting at a rapid pace, raising serious concerns among environmentalists. This phenomenon could severely damage Turkey's tourism sector, particularly mountain climbing.
According to Turkish media reports, the permanent snow-covered area of Mount Ararat is melting due to hot weather. Turkish news agency DHA has released footage on this matter, as reported by Ermenihaber.
There are also reports of dirt and sewage flowing into the villages near Mount Ararat. The video was captured by Murat Shahin, a local guide and mountaineer with 40 years of experience. He noted that he is witnessing such an event for the first time.
According to Shahin, while there is currently no immediate threat to the villages, the situation could change. He emphasized that if these temperatures persist, there will be no snow-covered areas on Mount Ararat in 5-10 years.
