Russian Fencers Will Not Compete in Olympic Sabre Quartet
Russian fencers will not participate in the sabre quartet at the Tokyo Olympics, reports “Говорит Москва.”
Due to positive doping tests, fencers Nikita Morgachov and Pavel Sorin have been removed from the Olympic team. They were set to replace Alexander Matveyev and Nikita Eskin in the quartet.
The Russian Fencing Federation has been unable to find substitutes for the fencers disqualified due to meldonium. Consequently, Artem Kosov and Nikolai Pimenov will also not travel to the Olympic Games.
The federation stated, “The coaching council of the Russian national team has concluded that their skill level does not meet Olympic standards.”
