Paylan Demands Investigation into Police Negligence During Vandalism of Armenian Church

Three individuals climbed onto the entrance wall of the Armenian Surp Takavor Church located in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul and, playing loud music, began to dance around the cross. This was reported by ermenihaber.am. Although police were present near the church, they did not take any action against the citizens desecrating the sanctuary.

A video of this incident surfaced online, attracting severe criticism and condemnation from representatives of Turkey's Armenian community and other Christian groups.

Turkish MP Garo Paylan addressed the disrespectful behavior towards the Armenian church. He posted about it on Twitter, stating, “I condemn those who showed disrespect towards our church in Kadıköy and those who allowed it to happen.” Paylan has called for the Turkish Ministry of Interior to launch an investigation against the police officers who were present at the scene and did nothing.
