Facebook Announces Trump's Account Suspension Until 2023
Facebook has announced that the account of former U.S. President Donald Trump has been suspended for two years, according to a report by Reuters, noting that the suspension took effect on January 7, 2021.
“Given the seriousness of the circumstances that led to the suspension of the account, we believe his actions seriously violated our policies, which warrant a severe penalty. We are suspending Donald Trump’s account for two years starting from January 7 of this year,” the company’s statement said.
The company also indicated that if experts see a “serious threat to public safety,” the suspension could be extended beyond the two-year mark.
Former President Donald Trump believes that Facebook’s decision to block his account until at least January 2023 is an insult to more than 75 million Americans who voted for him in the previous year's presidential election. “Facebook’s decision is an insult to a record 75 million people and many others who voted for us in the rigged 2020 presidential election. Our country can no longer tolerate such a mockery,” the statement read.
