Many Signatories of Onik Gasparyan's Statement to Receive New Positions
The newspaper "Jamanak" reports that details have emerged regarding the appointment process of Edward Asryan, the head of the Operational Main Department of the RA Armed Forces and deputy chief of the General Staff. As is known, he was one of the 44 officials who signed under the statement of the former chief of the Armenian Armed Forces, Onik Gasparyan.
The situation is that ahead of the parliamentary snap elections, the military leadership is inviting all 44 symbolic military figures to discuss various offers, particularly highlighting new positions. According to our information, internal discussions within the Ministry of Defense have taken place, and many are not in agreement with the idea of appointing Asryan to a new position. Generally, there is opposition within the Ministry of Defense against the idea of granting new positions to those who signed the statement, as it would clearly appear to be an act of bribery. However, the task is to somehow alleviate their dissatisfaction.
According to "Jamanak", Edward Asryan is not the only general set to receive a position, as other generals who also signed Onik Gasparyan's statement will similarly be appointed to new roles in the near future.
