Armen Gevorgyan Denies Charges, Lawyer Provides Details

The former Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Armen Gevorgyan, has denied the charges brought against him and has refused to provide testimony. This information was shared on Facebook by Gevorgyan's lawyer, Erik Aleksanyan.

He stated that his client did not answer any questions and characterized the charges as political and evidently illegal. The measure chosen for Gevorgyan is a signature not to leave the country.

“Armen Gevorgyan, adhering to his principled stance, did not familiarize himself with any procedural document, nor did he sign any decision or protocol,” he wrote.

He noted that Armen Gevorgyan properly appeared twice today at the summons of the prosecuting authority and did not engage in any evasive actions.

Earlier, it was reported that Gevorgyan had been summoned by the Special Investigation Service for questioning. He is charged under Article 190 of the RA Criminal Code (legalization of income obtained through criminal means—money laundering), specifically parts 1 and 3 of the third section.
