Amid a Torrent of Insults, Alen Simonyan Temporarily Closed His Facebook Account
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, had briefly closed his Facebook account. It is worth mentioning that just hours earlier, he had denied reports of a scuffle between Armenians and Azerbaijanis in the Vardenis mountains on behalf of the Ministry of Defense, a fact later confirmed by the ministry itself.
Simonyan's denial sparked outrage among thousands of users, who flooded the page of the government MP with insults. Initially, Simonyan deleted the comments but eventually decided to close his account. A few hours later, he reactivated the page and updated the controversial post by adding the text from the Ministry of Defense's confirmation.
