We Are Ready to Start the Process of Normalizing Relations with Turkey Without Preconditions - Deputy Foreign Minister Avet Adonts
Our stance remains the same: we are ready to begin relations with Turkey without preconditions. Today, preconditions are only being presented by Turkey. At the moment, there is no dialogue between Armenia and Turkey. This was stated by Armenia's Deputy Foreign Minister Avet Adonts during a conversation with reporters in Tsitsernakaberd, addressing the normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations and the preconditions put forth by Turkey in this context.
When asked what practical steps have been proposed concerning the regional cooperation format suggested after the war, the Deputy Minister replied: 'As of today, apart from the Minsk Group, we are not discussing any other format for resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Minsk Group is working, and I believe that it will soon become apparent.'
In response to the remark about the implications of statements suggesting that our position toward hostile states needs to change, Adonts noted: 'We are doing what we do. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' agenda is very open; everyone can see that. Of course, there are segments that pertain to classical diplomacy and do not leave the internal circles. Our only message is that yes, of course, please, but for us, any precondition is unacceptable.'
When asked whether the precondition imposed by Turkey regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue continues to be in effect after the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War, Adonts emphasized: 'I have already mentioned that there is no dialogue. Currently, our relations with Turkish officials are at a 0 level. Regarding the war, I have not heard any precondition; however, the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains as a proposed precondition by Turkey.'
