The 'Homeland' Party and I Clearly See Our Place in the Opposition: Arthur Vanetsyan
The 'Homeland' party faced several challenges, some of which it managed to resolve. This was announced today, April 24, during a conversation with journalists at the Tsitsernakaberd memorial on the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide by the leader of the 'Homeland' party, Arthur Vanetsyan.
“We were unable to resolve the issue of holding snap elections under the leadership of Nikol Pashinyan. Initially, our task was to compel the authorities to resign and call for snap parliamentary elections, but with one condition: that there should be a transitional government for one year. While we did not achieve the transitional government part of the agenda, I believe that the 'Homeland Salvation Movement' has fulfilled its mission. There is no doubt in the minds of the overwhelming majority of the public that Nikol Pashinyan must resign,” he stated.
According to Arthur Vanetsyan, the 'Homeland' party is in discussions with various political parties. “Whether it will be participation as a coalition or independently will be announced soon. There is a group of political forces and individuals who are oppositional, and there is a group that supports the authorities. The 'Homeland' party and I clearly see our place in the opposition,” he added.
When asked when he last saw Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan, Vanetsyan responded, “We saw each other a few months ago, talked, but there was no political discussion; he did not perform a mediatory function.”
