The President Has a Three-Day Deadline to Make a Decision, Says Presidential Assistant
The President of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, has received Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's proposal for the appointment of Artak Davtyan as Head of the Armed Forces General Staff.
In response to a question from "Armenpress," the President's assistant Hasmik Petrosyan stated, "The President has a three-day deadline to make a decision." On March 10, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan submitted the nomination of Artak Davtyan for the position of Head of the Armed Forces General Staff to President Armen Sarkissian.
Artak Davtyan previously held the position of Head of the General Staff from May 24, 2018, until June 8, 2020. On July 16, 2020, he was appointed as the Chairman of the State Committee of Military Industry by the decision of the Prime Minister. He was relieved of that position on November 11, 2020. On March 9, 2021, by the order of the Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan, he was appointed as a senior officer with special assignments. The term of office of Onik Gasparyan as Head of the General Staff ended on March 10.
