SSS Clarifies Footage of Azerbaijani-Speaking Persons in Syunik Province
The National Security Service of Armenia has clarified information regarding footage of Azerbaijani-speaking individuals recorded from a vehicle in Syunik Province. The agency stated that the recording was made about a month ago during a trilateral working meeting of border guards convened in the areas between Syunik and Jakatun communities of the Kapan municipality, attended by Azerbaijani military personnel accompanied by Russian border guards in an agreed-upon manner.
This information was provided by the National Security Service of Armenia. It is crucial to emphasize that, as stated, ongoing relevant operations are currently underway in this and adjacent areas, and any publications and unofficial analyses aimed at creating public tensions are unwarranted and unacceptable.
To avoid further speculation and as an addition to the statement released by the National Security Service on December 20, 2020, it is also informed that Armenian and Azerbaijani border guards (in their deployment areas), in cooperation with their Russian counterparts, are currently conducting border demarcation works in the Shiravnukh-Davit Bek section of the Goris-Kapan interstate road in Syunik Province.
Recent news in the media and various social networks regarding this section, which has caused unnecessary concern among the public, does not correspond to reality. The situation in all the mentioned areas is fully controlled by the border troops of the National Security Service of Armenia, and we again urge the population not to trust the information disseminated by unreliable sources and to refrain from propagating such information.
