Driver's License Marked 'Azerbaijan' Resulted from an Error: Clarification
A photograph of a driver's license is circulating widely on the internet, showing 'Azerbaijan' listed as the place of birth. Those sharing the information claim that the police determined the birthplace via GPS, which now classifies the village of Paravakar in Tavush as part of Azerbaijan.
The 'Information Verification Center' contacted the Tavush Regional Administration for clarification. They explained the situation: 'Initially, the citizen's driver's license mistakenly indicated Azerbaijan. The same day, the issue was noted, and the driver's license was updated to reflect Armenia as the place of birth. The Paravakar community is considered within the territory of the Republic of Armenia, as it has been before and continues to be now.'
We also reached out to the owner of the driver's license, who stated that they had no idea how the image of their license ended up online. 'Everything is normal with my driver's license. There is no issue; it states Armenia everywhere,' they said.
