Who Met with Nikol Pashinyan This Morning and What Was Decided
Yesterday, when Nikol Pashinyan announced in Republic Square that it was time to put an end to the velvet revolution, those in the law enforcement agencies were holding their breath, waiting to learn when decisions would be made to arrest the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, his deputies, generals, and colonels.
The newspaper "Zhoghavor" clarified from its sources in the law enforcement agencies that both the Prosecutor's Office of Armenia, the Investigative Committee, and the NSS had clearly informed the messengers from the government that they would not obey any illegal orders. Moreover, they explained that under the conditions of martial law, they would not arrest Onik Gasparyan or any other military personnel under any circumstances, and as a result, the government understood that it had retained only a limited control over the police forces, while the police themselves have no rights to arrest military personnel, and it is unlikely that the military police would take such daring actions.
O. Gasparyan, his deputies, and the commanders of the five corps who joined the announcement will continue to serve and ensure the inviolability of our country’s borders and territorial integrity, while political developments will continue to unfold.
Furthermore, law enforcement officials have insisted that there has been no attempt at a military coup, as the Chief of the General Staff has not taken any actions beyond the statement made, nor has he taken armed action to seize power, thus making it illegal to arrest him.
This is reported by the newspaper "Zhoghavor".
