Why Nearly 50 Dolphins Stranded on the Coast of New Zealand
At least 49 black dolphins have stranded on the shore in Golden Bay, New Zealand. According to Radio New Zealand, nine of them have died, while 40 remain alive.
Approximately 65 volunteers are providing assistance to the dolphins. The volunteers plan to guide the dolphins back into the water once the tide begins to rise.
People on boats will monitor the animals until it gets dark. Some volunteers will stay on the beach overnight, as it is possible that the dolphins may come back to the area and strand again in the early morning.
