Second or Third Instance of Defense Ministry Providing Misinformation: Tigran Abrahamyan
The head of the Khndzoresk village administration reported via its Facebook page about an incident between a local shepherd and Azerbaijani soldiers (the Azerbaijanis took the sheep and later returned them). It was also noted that the border guards, the command of the Armenian Army’s 1st Army Corps, and the negotiating parties responded to the issue, which was resolved through discussions.
Notably, the Armenian Ministry of Defense stated in its official announcements on that and the following day that "on February 11 and 12, the operational environment along the entire Armenian-Azerbaijani border line did not change, and no border incidents were recorded." I could not understand why the Ministry of Defense continues to disseminate misinformation. What is the purpose? There was an incident—report it and move on. Why hide it?
This is already the second or third time that the Ministry of Defense has provided information that does not correspond to reality. The previous incident involved two Azerbaijani servicemen detained in the Syunik Province community of Tegh. After two days, they were handed over to Azerbaijan, but regarding neither of these instances was there any official announcement; the Ministry of Defense even indicated in its daily report that no incidents had been recorded.
Let me ask the Ministry of Defense a simple question: why do you issue daily reports concerning the border situation, if they often do not reflect reality, and the public's trust in your statements has reached a dangerously low level? My intention is not to put you in a foolish position, but my concern is the level of trust towards such an important institution as the Ministry of Defense, which is continuing to decline due to the active efforts of its leadership.
