Whose ‘fault’ is it that the Yerevan Municipality will receive 603 million drams less?
The budget of Yerevan city for 2020 will initially fall short by 603 million drams compared to what was planned. The reason behind this is the lack of subventions provided by the government during the previous year and the failure to implement various programs.
The newspaper has learned that a change will be made to one of the decisions regarding the Yerevan city budget for 2020 at the Yerevan City Council's meeting on February 9. The agenda of that meeting will include 17 items, one of which involves amendments to the budget project.
Specifically, the amendment anticipates a reduction of 342 million drams from the powers delegated to the Yerevan Mayor by the state, while targeted allocations (subventions) from the Yerevan community's budget for 2020 will be reduced by 261 million drams. As a result, the revenue and expenditure portions of the Yerevan community’s 2020 budget will decrease by a total of 603 million drams.
The issue revolves around the subventions that the government was supposed to provide for program implementation, but which have not been delivered, prompting such changes in the budget. The newspaper reports that the Ministry of Finance is also at fault here, as it delayed the project, leading to new complications.
