Investigation into Billions Spent on COVID-19 Response
The newspaper "Jamanak" reports that the RA Court of Accounts has made some changes to its activity plan for 2021. According to the information obtained by "Jamanak," the Court intends to investigate the budgetary expenditures made by the Ministry of Health concerning the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, the 7th department of the Court of Accounts will also check the budgetary expenses related to COVID-19 made by the Ministries of Economy, Labor and Social Issues, as well as the State Revenue Committee. It is noteworthy that from March 2020 to October 1, 2020, the Ministry of Health of Armenia spent approximately 13 billion 244 million drams on preventive, control, treatment, and other comprehensive measures against the COVID-19 pandemic.
We await the completion of the Court of Accounts' investigation to understand whether the billions spent against the coronavirus were effective or not.
