IM Kayl Member Maria Karapetyan Responds to MPs Who Left the Faction
These MPs no longer represent anyone other than themselves, because they have stepped away from the logic upon which their mandate was formed. This was stated by Maria Karapetyan, a member of the 'IM Kayl' faction, in a post on her Facebook page in response to MPs who have left the faction.
'It should be dispelled among the MPs who have left the ruling party's parliamentary faction that they have a political mandate and can engage in any meaningful parliamentary activities besides sporadically coloring the voting board and delivering fiery speeches. In terms of political meaning of the mandate, even if we briefly consider that their mandate emerged from votes by the citizens who elected them, it is simply absurd to think that all those citizens have suddenly become opposition members alongside them, particularly supportive opposition members.
These MPs no longer represent anyone other than themselves, because they have left the logic upon which their mandate was formed. In terms of meaningful parliamentary activity, mandates are granted either to implement the governing party's electoral program or to present the opposition's electoral program as an alternative. What program are these MPs implementing or trying to present as an alternative? This is not, after all, a 'soviet assembly' where people gather to express opinions.
It would be better if they understand all this and resign from their mandates altogether, because useful work can be done as citizens as well.'
