The State Revenue Committee Simplifies Administrative Procedures
The State Revenue Committee continues to take active steps to improve the business environment in Armenia, within the framework of legislative changes that have been implemented. By the government decision No. N1130-N dated July 2, 2020, a system for recording the period of customs clearance of goods has been introduced by customs bodies.
As a result, certain mechanisms for recording individual actions (cost effectiveness, time effectiveness, and the number of documents submitted to customs bodies) of economic entities involved in foreign economic activities have been established.
The change also includes regulations for sending relevant questionnaires to declarants via an electronic system and summarizing and publishing information. The customs clearance period recording system will allow for the simplification of customs operations related to the clearance of goods through appropriate statistical management.
The second important legislative change aims to increase the transit potential of the Republic of Armenia. By government decision No. 1255-N dated July 30, 2020, operations within the framework of customs transit starting and ending in the territory of the Republic of Armenia are simplified. Specifically, provisions related to simplified operations (not providing security for customs duties and tax obligations, using accompanying documents as transit declarations) are also applied to cases of transfer from the customs body of the place of arrival to the customs body of the place of departure and from the internal customs body to the departure customs body.
