Cases of COVID-19 Infection with British and African Variants Registered in Japan and Finland
Cases of COVID-19 infection with the 'British' and 'African' variants have been identified in Japan and Finland. According to NHK, a 30-year-old woman who returned from the Republic of South Africa tested positive. Detailed studies confirmed that she is infected with the variant circulating in South Africa. This marks the first such case in Japan.
Additionally, six Japanese individuals have been confirmed to be infected with the British variant of the virus. Thus, there are a total of 15 people infected with variants of COVID-19 in Japan.
Meanwhile, Finland has reported, according to DW, two cases of infection with the British variant. There is also one additional infected person whose case confirms the South African strain.
