15 Fishing Nets Removed from Lake Sevan by National Park Rangers
Due to the spawning season of the salmon, the special ranger unit of the "Sevan" National Park has initiated the removal and destruction of illegal fishing nets as part of the intensified ban on commercial fishing that began on the 25th of this month. This was reported by the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Armenia, Romanos Petrosyan.
Prior to this, residents of coastal communities and representatives of fishing enterprises were warned about the intensification of control measures. They were also given a grace period to remove fishing nets from the lake after the ban took effect.
Yesterday, the national park's ranger unit removed a total of 15 nets. The nets are confiscated and destroyed in accordance with the law. The various control measures are ongoing.
