If the council decides to increase salaries, I will renounce it. Marutyan
Tigran Galstyan, a member of the "My Step" faction of the Yerevan City Council, suggested during the council session to raise the salaries of the council employees next year instead of giving bonuses, by 30, 50, or 100 percent, depending on the level of responsibility.
Yerevan Deputy Mayor Sergey Nersisyan noted that it is impossible to distribute the bonus fund as a salary; a new proposal needs to be developed and discussed at the council session, which he said they are ready for.
"This is an important issue, as everyone knows that the lowest salaries in the public administration system belong to the Yerevan municipality," said Nersisyan.
Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan responded to the raised issue, stating: "Regardless of what the council decides on this matter, to avoid further speculation, I declare that I will renounce the increased portion of my salary. It will be directed to some charitable program. My salary will remain as it is now."
