Iran Constructs Underground Nuclear Facility, Reports Euronews

Iran is constructing a nuclear facility in the central city of Natanz, as indicated by satellite images released on Wednesday, according to Euronews.

The project concerns an underground plant where centrifuges are to be assembled for uranium enrichment. A similar above-ground facility was destroyed in a fire in July, which Tehran labeled a provocation.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that it is aware of the new plant's construction in Iran. “It is not finished yet. It is a long process,” said IAEA Director Rafael Grossi, who confirmed that inspectors have the right to access Iran's nuclear facilities despite the disruptions in the agreement.

In May 2018, under President Trump's initiative, Washington withdrew from the nuclear deal with Tehran. His opponent in the presidential elections, Joe Biden, has expressed willingness to return to the agreement.
