Amulsar Guardians Appeal to the Prime Minister
Environmental activist Shirak Buniatyan has shared the statement of the Amulsar guardians on his Facebook page:
“Dear Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, we, the residents of the Jermuk community, who for over two and a half years have been forced to physically close the land route to Amulsar for numerous justified reasons, welcome your emphasis during the meeting with the 'Lydian' directors on the opinion, stance, and balanced interests of the residents of the surrounding communities of Amulsar.
We, the residents of the adjacent Jermuk community, invite you to Jermuk for a public open meeting. We propose that all beloved residents of our community who are in favor of the mining project in Amulsar also participate in the meeting.
We urge you not to ignore our request and to attend that meeting. We are confident that a government elected by the people will listen to the opinions of its citizens and will be attentive to the situation on the ground.
We believe that this constructive meeting will help alleviate and calm the unprecedented tensions in the Jermuk community in recent times. Yes, by coming to Jermuk, you will not only gather clear facts for your decisions but also bring solidarity to our community.
We sincerely look forward to your response.
Amulsar Guardians,”
