Presidential Elections in Belarus

On Sunday, August 9, presidential elections are taking place in Belarus, as reported by BELTA. The elections will be considered valid if more than half of the registered voters participate in the voting. The country's leader will be elected if more than half of the voters cast their ballots in favor of a candidate.

Five individuals are registered as presidential candidates: Andrei Dmitriev, Anna Kanopatskaya, Alexander Lukashenko, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, and Sergey Cherechen.

The Central Election Commission has established 153 regional and 5,723 local election commissions. A total of 5,767 polling stations have been set up, including those in rest homes, hospitals, and other locations, with 13 in military units and 44 outside the borders of Belarus.

The polling stations will open at 8:00 AM. A total of 6,836,585 people are eligible to participate in the elections.

The election process will be monitored by 248 international observers and approximately 50,000 national monitoring organizations and individuals.
