Attempt to Smuggle Undeclared Goods Through Bagratashen Customs Checkpoint
The State Revenue Committee continues its monitoring measures aimed at uncovering violations. In the context of the pandemic, some transport drivers are attempting to smuggle concealed goods into the country, taking advantage of the situation and circumventing customs control.
Recently, employees of the Bagratashen customs checkpoint under the Eastern Customs Directorate conducted inspections on two vehicles operated by Armenian citizens as part of their customs oversight at the Bagratashen checkpoint. The trucks were transporting goods that had been declared via transit declarations at the Upper Lars checkpoint.
Upon weighing the vehicles, it was revealed that the stated weight in the documents did not match the actual weight. In order to carry out thorough inspections, the trucks were sent for X-ray examination. The examination revealed that there were various types of undeclared goods in the vehicle, including approximately one ton of oil intended for engines.
In both instances, reports were filed for violations of customs regulations.
