Three Elderly Residents Die from Coronavirus at Gyumri Nursing Home, Infections Reach 56
At the nursing home in Gyumri, testing was conducted for 151 residents and 66 employees, resulting in a total of 56 infections, with 37 individuals transferred to hospitals.
“Unfortunately, we have recorded three deaths, two females and one male, all of whom had underlying severe health conditions, and all were over the age of 80,” Nune Grigoryan, the spokesperson for the Armenian Red Cross Society, told Tert.am.
According to her, one employee is currently hospitalized, while the others have self-quarantined. The infected patients are receiving treatment at the Gyumri Infectious Diseases Hospital and a dedicated treatment center for coronavirus in Spitak.
“We have 18 individuals isolated, and we are cooperating with the Shirak branch of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, from where specialists provide us with information on how to implement anti-epidemic measures. The isolation areas are compliant with designated standards, with a separate floor allocated for the 18 residents,” she added.
When asked whether the nursing home staff had been tested, Nune Grigoryan noted that strict quarantine measures had been maintained at the center, and employees had been working in shifts.
