NSS Threatens Judge Vahagn Melikyan: 'Factinfo'
According to sources from the National Security Service (NSS) cited by 'Factinfo', Judge Vahagn Melikyan of the Avan seat of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction was summoned to the NSS yesterday.
During the meeting, the judge was shown a personal audio-visual recording involving him and was pressured to approve a new request from the State Revenue Committee (SRC) for the detention of former Armenian Ambassador to the Holy See Mikael Minasian, regardless of any procedural violations.
The website attempted to obtain a comment from Minasian's attorney, Mihran Poghosyan, but he stated that he was not aware of any new request regarding the detention. Later, further attempts to reach him were unsuccessful.
It is worth noting that the Court of Appeals had annulled the court's decision to select detention as a preventive measure against M. Minasian, against which the prosecution has filed a cassation appeal.
