Citizens Near NSS Lose Gold Items and Wallet, One Being a 40-Gram Necklace
On June 14, citizens near the National Security Service (NSS) lost their belongings during a scuffle, including a gold chain and a wallet. This was reported by 168.am.
“One of the boys lost his chain, which was a keepsake from his grandmother, and another necklace weighing 40 grams is also lost,” said Armen Nersisyan, a member of the Yerevan City Council from the Prosperous Armenia Party.
“I haven’t reported to the police; I told human rights defenders, and they promised to take care of the matter. On Sunday, in front of everyone on Nalbandyan Street, I went into a store to buy water and coffee for the police. There were familiar policemen standing there. They are our brothers, they are not our enemies, right? While distributing coffee, I passed by the hallway, leaned left to give water and coffee to the guys, and wanted to go down towards the lower intersection to also give water and coffee to familiar traffic policemen, but I found myself in the wrong place at the wrong time. They grabbed me, and I told the policeman to let me go, as he was holding my chain around my neck. One was grabbing me by the neck, and another was pushing me from behind. When he pushed, my chain came off. I was shouting, saying ‘brother, my chain...’ I will pursue this to the end because it’s my child's necklace. I mentioned this to the human rights defenders who came to the police department.
They tell me, ‘maybe a citizen stole it,’ and I said, ‘if a citizen detained me, then there’s no problem.’ But I was detained by the police. I’m not going to complain about anyone; I just want them to return my necklace, even if they throw it somewhere, to say, ‘here’s where it is, go and take it,’” detailed Albert Grigoryan.
