Truck Loaded with Sugar Overturns in Tavush, 50-Year-Old Driver Dies
A major and tragic road accident occurred in the Tavush region today, June 9. According to Shamshyan.com, around 10:30 AM, a 50-year-old Russian citizen, Arthur Poghosyan, was driving a truck with Russian license plates when, under still unknown circumstances, he veered off the roadway in the administrative area of Kiran village. The vehicle collided with reinforced concrete barriers and ended up overturned on top of a garage owned by Zhivair Avalyan.
As a result of the accident, the driver died at the scene. His body was retrieved from the vehicle by rescue workers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. A criminal case has been opened in the investigative department based on the features of Article 242, Part 2 of the Armenian Criminal Code (road traffic accident causing death through negligence).
Reports indicate that the truck was loaded with sugar, which spilled out completely due to the overturning.
