Sissian Police Chief Assaults 70-Year-Old Father and Operated Brother, Father Nerses Reacts to Incident
Three citizens hospitalized following yesterday's incident in Sisian are family members of Father Nerses. In an interview with NEWS.am, the clergyman stated that he is convinced his father and brother did not provoke or create any situation that would lead law enforcement to use violence against them.
It is noteworthy that, according to circulating media reports, the temporary acting police chief of Sisian, Gevorg Azizyan, was also involved in the incident. The police’s public relations department informed NEWS.am that an internal investigation is underway regarding the incident.
During the conversation with the media outlet, Father Nerses expressed that he felt very hurt and outraged by the incident. “When that crazed police chief suddenly attacked my brother and started cursing at him, my father intervened, and he also was cursed at and struck. My uncle’s son recorded everything, but at that moment, they took the phone from him and deleted the video; they also beat him,” the clergyman recounted.
