U.S. Government Cuts Direct Financial Assistance to Artsakh
The Armenian Center for American Studies has published the following information on its Facebook page: “Despite the active efforts of Armenian lobbying organizations and Congress members in recent months, it was unsuccessful in maintaining direct aid from the U.S. for Artsakh. The Trump administration decided to cut funding for the landmine clearance program being implemented in Artsakh.
The Armenian Center for American Studies has repeatedly highlighted the active work of the Azerbaijani authorities, including the money spent in the U.S. National Security Council, aimed at promoting their interests. It was, in fact, the U.S. National Security Council that decided the future of this program.
It should be noted that the U.S. was the only country, besides Armenia, that provided direct financial assistance to Artsakh without recognizing the independence of that state.”
