Jermuk Residents Did Not Greet Nikol Pashinyan with Joyful Attitudes

In Jermuk, citizens did not greet Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan with joyful attitudes. They expressed their dissatisfaction with the fact that, despite existing dangers, Pashinyan does not oppose the exploitation of the Amulsar mine.

Pashinyan noted that if it is determined that there are environmental dangers that are unmanageable, then the mine will not operate; otherwise, it should be exploited. "We will not allow it," said one of the guardians of Jermuk, to which Pashinyan responded, "If you are not going to allow it, then don't; let us take your pain too: if you won’t allow it, what can I say?"

Pashinyan emphasized that he needs a professional conclusion in order to form an opinion. When he started talking about the expertise, one of Jermuk's guardians said, "Your home is far away, Mr. Pashinyan, that’s why you think like that."

"If you really think that I am that kind of person who thinks, 'my house is far away, let the house of the Jermuk resident be destroyed,' then why are you even speaking with me? Why are you allowing me to enter your city if you believe I am that type of person? It’s not even worth greeting me," he stated.

Another person from Jermuk remarked that although Pashinyan constantly says that years ago there were trees in Jermuk instead of buildings, but they were cut down and replaced with buildings, metal mines and construction dust cannot be compared to that.

The guardians of Jermuk also complained that they are subjected to insulting remarks and are accused of being paid to block roads, which is not the case.

As a result of the discussions, the guardians of Jermuk and Pashinyan could not reach an agreement. The residents of Jermuk began to protest, and Pashinyan left.
