Turkey Clearly Supported Azerbaijan's Military Aggression Against Artsakh: Artsakh Foreign Ministry

The policy of Ankara's unconditional support for Azerbaijan not only contradicts Turkey's status as a member of the OSCE Minsk Group but also undermines the efforts of international mediators aimed at finalizing the resolution of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict. This was stated in the commentary from the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Artsakh's information and public relations department.

In response to a question about how they would comment on Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu's statement made during a meeting with the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, the Artsakh Foreign Ministry replied: “Turkey is not a neutral party in the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict, therefore it cannot objectively play any positive role. It is a fact that Turkey is Azerbaijan's ally. Since the inception of the Karabakh movement in 1988, and throughout the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict, Turkey has supported the Azerbaijani side.

Moreover, in April 2016, Turkey openly supported Azerbaijan’s military aggression against Artsakh, contrary to the calls from the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and the international community in general to immediately cease hostilities. Ankara's unconditional support for Azerbaijan not only contradicts Turkey's status as a member of the OSCE Minsk Group but also hampers the efforts of international mediators aimed at finalizing the settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict.”
