Servicemen Affected by Enemy Offensive Actions to Receive Compensation
The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia has approved on the first reading a bill presented by the government that proposes to expand the beneficiaries of the "Soldiers' Insurance Fund". The bill aims to provide compensation to servicemen whose lives or health have been harmed as a result of enemy offensive actions.
The Minister of Defense's Deputy, Gabriel Balayan, presented the draft law on amendments and additions to the law of the Republic of Armenia regarding damage compensation to servicemen's lives or health during the defense of the Republic of Armenia.
The draft proposes that beneficiaries of the fund will include not only those servicemen who have suffered injuries or life-threatening damage directly on the front line during combat operations or military duty, but also those cases of damage caused to life or health as a result of enemy offensive actions. In other words, if a serviceman receives injuries due to actions initiated by the enemy and attains first or second-degree disability, they will be included in the list of beneficiaries and receive compensation, regardless of whether the injury occurred during combat duty or while performing a special assignment.
The draft was adopted with 114 votes in favor.
