I Couldn’t Prevent the Accident: Davit Sanasaryan on the Incident Involving a Child
“The expert, using the initial data, concluded that I could not have prevented that accident,” stated Davit Sanasaryan, the suspended head of the State Oversight Service, during a conversation with reporters about the criminal case related to the incident where a child was hit by a vehicle.
Sanasaryan also addressed the criminal case initiated against him and former employees of the State Oversight Service. “From the very beginning, I thought, what connection do I have with this case, what are they investigating, where have I found myself? This process is unrelated to me. My goal has been to ensure the letter of the law; I do not recognize the specified organizations. The prosecutor insists that since this organization provided the equipment to medical centers, a request has been made for their materials to be serviced. The law states that the criteria must not be discriminatory. In this case, in no way could any other organization participate in the procurement process, as the model of the dialysis unit is specified. It is written in a way that no other organization can participate. Until now, the Ministry of Health has been proceeding with these criteria; why haven’t you changed them yet?” Sanasaryan stated during the break of today’s court session.
It is noted that Davit Sanasaryan has been charged with using his official position against the interests of the service, having direct management over the service, appointing and dismissing employees, applying disciplinary measures, and demanding information about supervised objects, based on group interests. Three other defendants are also involved in the case, including State Oversight Service employees Samvel Adyan, Gevorg Khachatryan, and the actual director-accountant of “Zorashen” LLC, Taron Avetisyan. Today, the court began examining the evidence. The criminal case consists of 28 volumes.
