Coronavirus Not Considered Highly Dangerous Virus, No Special Measures Needed: Minister
Since coronavirus is not considered a highly dangerous virus, there is no need for special measures. This was stated by Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan during a government briefing.
“We have initially decided that depending on the severity of confirmed cases, management will be carried out in infectious services, and if necessary, the list of hospitals providing services will be expanded. There is no specific treatment for the virus; mainly symptomatic treatment is provided, such as reducing fever, and antibiotics if there are associated infections. If we see a risk of widespread transmission of the disease, we will respond with recommendations; for instance, there may be movement restrictions, but we do not have concerns in this regard at the moment. Secondly, coronavirus is a respiratory illness that spreads during the winter, similar to the flu virus. If a respiratory infection is suspected, it is advisable for the patient not to be in enclosed spaces with others, while in open areas the viruses are quickly destroyed and do not spread, which is why there is no need for additional restrictions yet,” he said.
