My goal is to find out how information has leaked from law enforcement: Papikyan summoned by the Special Investigative Service
The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Suren Papikyan, was summoned two days ago by the Special Investigative Service (SIS), where a criminal case has been initiated under Article 144 and Part 1 of Article 308 of the Criminal Code for the alleged illegal collection, retention, and dissemination of information pertaining to the private life of an individual by a public official misusing their official powers.
Papikyan stated this during a meeting with reporters, emphasizing that he does not currently hold the status of a victim but will have it. “My goal is to find out how the confidential information about the official leaked from the domain of the given law enforcement body, through which official, or through which unofficial person,” said Suren Papikyan.
It is worth mentioning that days ago, the news website “Hraparak.am” published an article titled “Suren Papikyan concealed the fact of his conviction,” stating that during his service years, Papikyan had been convicted and that fact was omitted from his biography.
Additionally, following this publication, Suren Papikyan stated in a Facebook live broadcast that this information was available to the police. He criticized various high-ranking officials in the law enforcement sector for focusing on creating some sort of compromise packages against a state official of the Republic of Armenia, rather than investigating those who looted the country and deprived the Armenian people for years during the post-revolution period.
In response to Papikyan's statement, former NSS Director Arthur Vanetsyan also reacted. Today, a journalist asked Suren Papikyan whether those hints were directed at him. “I have said what I needed to say. Whatever hints others perceive is their problem; I have not mentioned any specific individual, it is the task of law enforcement to clarify,” Papikyan responded.
