Alen Simonyan Attends Court Hearing in Levon Yeranosyan Case
The court hearing in the case of former commander of police troops, Lieutenant General Levon Yeranosyan, has commenced at the Yerevan General Court of Jurisdiction under Judge Harutyun Manukyan. The case is currently in the evidence examination phase, and this hearing will focus on reviewing the video recordings contained in the preliminary investigation materials.
Also present at the court session is the victim in the case, Alen Simonyan.
It is noteworthy that Levon Yeranosyan is accused of using a total of 8 "Zarya" type flashbang grenades against protesters during mass demonstrations held in Yerevan on April 16 and 22, 2018. More than 20 individuals have been recognized as victims due to these actions, resulting in various degrees of injuries, including severe and moderate harm.
Additionally, six personnel from the National Police's internal troops stationed on Baghramyan Avenue also sustained physical injuries due to the use of special measures by Levon Yeranosyan. Among the victims are Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan.
A preventive measure has been chosen for the former commander of the internal troops, stipulating that he must not leave the country.
