Absences of Children Attending Kindergartens in Yerevan Will Be Considered Excused
Anna Javakhyan, a member of the Yerevan City Council from the 'My Step' faction, has addressed Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan with a proposal to review the restrictions on excused absences due to illness in preschool educational institutions, as absences are leading to children being excluded from kindergartens. Javakhyan's proposal was rejected.
In her statement regarding this issue, the council member noted that the response clearly indicates that 'the responsible persons of preschool educational institutions have been instructed to consider the absences of children attending kindergartens as excused during this period, taking into account the circumstances of seasonal illnesses.'
She emphasized, 'Regardless of everything, always remember that it is guaranteed by the Constitution and legislation of the Republic of Armenia that every child has the right to education. If any child is excluded from kindergarten due to excused absences, contact the city's municipality, and in the case of regions, also the regional governor's office, and the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports,' she concluded with supporting documents attached.
