Gifts Received to be Approved by Council Decision: LHK Bill on Communities
Following the controversy over the gifts received by the Yerevan Municipality regarding the 'Kamaz' issue, a second draft law is being presented to the National Assembly. The LHK faction proposes that donations made for the benefit of communities, if they exceed 1 million dram, must be approved by a council decision.
While presenting this draft from the National Assembly podium, LHK representative Ani Samsonyan stated that similar practices existed in the Yerevan Mayor's office in the past, but had been misused since 2018. She noted that they have set a threshold to prevent the council from having to approve such projects all day long.
Regarding anonymity, Samsonyan said that donations exceeding 1 million dram must be disclosed, as they will be discussed in the council session.
