Arshak Jerjeryan, Accused in Illegitimate Adoption Case, Will Remain Free
Arshak Jerjeryan, the deputy director of the Republican maternity hospital, will remain free. In response to a question from Hakobyan Times, the head of the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor's Office, Arevik Khachatryan, stated that the Court of Appeals rejected the prosecutor's appeal against the decision to release Jerjeryan on bail.
It is reminded that Arshak Jerjeryan has been charged in connection with the illegal adoption of children under Article 167, Part 2, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (illegally separating or transferring a child from a parent by a group of individuals with prior consent).
At the end of 2019, the Investigative Committee submitted a request to the court to choose imprisonment as a preventive measure against him. The court approved the request for imprisonment while allowing the application of bail.
