VIDEO: High-speed train derails in Italy, casualties reported
A high-speed train has derailed in the Lodi province of Italy, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to dozens more. This has been reported by CNN, citing the country's authorities.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning in the town of Casalpusterlengo, located approximately 50 km from Milan. According to Italy's emergency services, both deceased were train drivers, and 28 people have sustained injuries. Law enforcement is currently conducting operations at the scene.
According to data from the Italian railway network, the train was operating on the Milan-Salerno route when the incident took place at 5:30 AM local time (08:30 AM Yerevan time). It is noted that the maximum speed at which the train could operate was 300 km/h. It remains unclear at what speed the train was traveling at the time of the derailment.
