Turkey and Azerbaijan Have Lagged Behind Armenia in Tourism Growth According to Their Data - Pashinyan
According to consolidated data, 1 million 894 thousand 377 tourists visited Armenia in 2019. This number is an increase of 242 thousand 595 or 14.7% compared to 2018, and an increase of 399 thousand 598 or 26.7% compared to 2017, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on his Facebook page.
“Furthermore, according to the barometer published by the World Tourism Organization on February 4, Armenia ranked 12th among the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world in 2019. Turkey and Azerbaijan have lagged behind Armenia in terms of tourism growth, ranking 13th and 17th respectively, with increases of 14% and 11.4%. Georgia did not make it to the list of the top 20 fastest growing countries in tourism at all.
In the EAEU countries, Armenia is also a leader. Only Kazakhstan from the EAEU is on the list, but according to their data, it also falls short compared to Armenia, recording a 10% growth (20th position).
