Karakertyan: Banner featuring Tankian appeared in Yerevan before the revolution
Former National Assembly member Mihran Hakobyan made a post today, in which he notes that on one of the streets of Yerevan, a banner from the "Great Armenians" series features Serj Tankian, allegedly at the behest of the current authorities. This was written by Yerevan Mayor's press secretary Hakob Karapetyan on his Facebook page.
“Your friends along the revolutionary mud line have included you in the 'GREAT ARMENIANS' series. With the money of the taxpayers of the Republic of Armenia, you have been declared a great figure of the Armenian nation, and your picture has been posted on the street...” Hakobyan remarked, addressing Tankian.
“My 'institutional memory' reminded me that the banner featuring Tankian appeared in Yerevan before the revolution. I asked the partners at the City Hall's external design and advertising department to verify this fact. In response, they informed me that the banner titled 'Great Armenians' featuring Serj Tankian was posted on Baghramyan Avenue no later than 2017 when Mihran Hakobyan's party members constituted the majority in the Yerevan Council. Therefore, I suggest to the esteemed Mr. Hakobyan to amend his post due to the 'newly emerged circumstances,'” wrote Karapetyan.
