The Number of Deaths from the Chinese Coronavirus Reaches 213
The number of patients infected with pneumonia caused by the 2019-nCoV virus (coronavirus) in China has reached 9,692, with 213 reported deaths. This was announced on January 31 by the State Committee of Hygiene and Health of the People's Republic of China, updating the figures related to those infected with the virus.
Although no deaths have been reported outside of China, the World Health Organization has declared the outbreak of the coronavirus as a public health emergency of international concern. The WHO has referred to the outbreak as 'unprecedented,' yet has advised against imposing restrictions on the movement of goods and people related to the virus.
On January 30, the World Health Organization (WHO), summarizing the results of an emergency consultation, declared the outbreak of the new coronavirus as a public health emergency of international importance. At the same time, the organization’s director, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, noted that there are currently no significant grounds for implementing restrictions on international travel and trade, according to TASS.
