First Cases of Coronavirus Infection Recorded in Italy
Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has announced that the first two cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in Italy. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
"Two cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed. The infected individuals are Chinese tourists who have arrived in our country," stated Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.
On December 31, 2019, Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization about an outbreak of an unknown type of pneumonia in Wuhan city, located in Hubei province. According to experts, the pathogen of the disease is the new coronavirus 2019-nCoV.
It is noteworthy that coronavirus cases have been recorded in 18 countries outside of China, with a total of 98 infection cases reported; among them, the virus has spread from person to person in 8 cases in Germany, Japan, Vietnam, and the USA.
